Japanese illustrator Ryogo Toyoda’s recent personal art explores the Hyakki Yagyō (百鬼夜行) folk legend — a night parade of 100 Oni and Yokai. Complementing his Monster Parade series of illustrations and an NFT project, Toyoda also brings his light-hearted spin on things that go bump in the night with his new Monster Parade Wave 01 art toy collectible from Mighty Jaxx.
Drawn from a portion of the Monster Parade NFT, illustration Wave 01 features a motley crew including a bearded Oni with seriously spiked club, a purple drumming demon, a lantern yokai, a fireball flame spirit and an impish noisemaker in a rice hat trumpeting their arrival. The parade is set to continue with at least two additional waves — one with the skeleton rider and one with the dragon.
The Monster Parade Wave 01 vinyl art toy w/polystone base (7″) will be available for pre-order on Saturday (1.14) at 6 AM PST from Mighty jaxx for $199 and is slated to ship in May 2023.
