Chinese artist Laowang brings a younger take on his signature rebel character with the new Wang Baby vinyl art toy series in collaboration with Newdtoy. The stylish, irreverent series features four designs (so far) including three fashion parodies and one bad boy skater.
The trio of Louis Wangton figures are unmistakably a sendup of the famed ‘LV’ fashion house. Flaunting the iconic brown/tan design motif, Louis Wangton 1’s inspiration is immediately recognizable right down to the handbag which includes the signature, closely spaced eyes of the character. Laowang’s mischievous nature is everywhere, with the eyes seen on flamboyant #2’s hat and of course the bag.
Speaking of the LAOWANG presence, the neon-themed Louis Wangton 3 and the in-your-face Supwang figures feature curious dog-like creatures, one on a gold chain leash and the other with its own orange skateboard. Per the artist, these pets are in fact garbage bags with LAOWANG brains. The Wang Baby figures deliver fun, fashion forward designs in a smaller form factor than the larger LAOWANG toys.
