With just a month to go before New York Comic-Con (10.6 – 10.9), Kidrobot has revealed its headline exclusive for the show, created in collaboration with legendary signer Elton John. The Elton John Music Man Icon 8″ Dunny is inspired by his 1973 costume with feathery shoulders and his signature flamboyant flair overall.
Part of Kidrobot’s Icon collection, the brand-new Dunny design features fabric clothes, a rarity for vinyl art toys—also seen in Kidrobot’s The Stars My Destination: Astronaut series. The unusual clothing + vinyl mix brings some of the appeal of 1/6 scale projects to vinyl by blending simplified sculpts with realistic accessories/gear. Beyond the feathers, the Music Man design features a leather jacket, sequin shirt, and piano-themed shoes. The figure debuts in pink for NYCC, rather than the white/creme of the singer’s original outfit.
As it has done in the past, Kidrobot will be offering limited online pre-orders of its NYCC 2022 exclusives on three consecutive days—Wednesday, August 7th through Friday, August 9th) at 9 AM PDT—from Kidrobot.com. KR’s full NYCC lineup also includes toys and lanyard pin sets featuring Godzilla, Hello Kitty, Nissin Cup Noodles and Trolls.
