Mutant Vinyl Hardcore (Rich Montanari Jr.) and Abao have blended their signature styles to create the new Freak Babi soft vinyl art toy produced by Unbox Industries. The collaborative new design presents Chinese artist Abao’s take on MvH’s Flying Freak character.
As you might expect (and hope), Abao has reimagined the winged monster in her signature aesthetic featuring multiple sets of body parts. Freak Babi is sure to draw second and third glances with five six arms and five eyes. Creepy cute, indeed! Finally, the back of Babi’s head features a stylized homage to the Flying Freak’s single eye.
First released at this past weekend’s DesignerCon London 2022, the debut Freak Babi edition vinyl art toy (9″) in pink and grayish blue will be available online on Saturday (9.10) at 8 AM PDT from Unbox Industries for $200. The figure will also be available ahead of the general drop via a lottery open to Unbox Newsletter subscribers. Unbox is also set to unleash MvH’s Neo-Lash on Saturday—more on that shortly.
