It’s awards season! Clutter has opened nominations for the upcoming 12th Designer Toy Awards —to be held in October—celebrating the best work in the industry including toys, artists, brands, stores and media outlets. This is your chance to make sure your pics, favorites, and those that stood out to you are recognized. Nominations will be open until Thursday, September 8th 2022 at 3 PM PDT via the DTA site. As with years past, the nominating committees will deliberate on the submitted nominations in order to determine finalists for each category which will then be open for voting.
There are two changes for this year’s awards. While the DTAs normally cover work from the previous calendar year, this time around eligibility has been expanded to cover two full years (January 1st, 2020 – December 31st, 2021). Due in part to the slower pace of releases during the pandedmic and on a pragmatic level a desire to put the show back on its regular schedule, the past two years are being combined into a single awards show. The second change is that for the first time, new colorways of previously released toys will be eligible for nomination in cases where the figure has yet to win a DTA.
