COHERE – Louis De Guzman x Chicago Cubs

Previous Next

Chicago-based Louis De Guzman celebrates his hometown Chicago Cubs and its central role in the city’s cohesive community with the new COHERE project. Commissioned by the Cubs, the 5-foot tall, 700 pound electroplated bronze sculpture features the artist’s interpretation of the team’s iconic ‘Angry Bear’ logo. The sculpture’s fabrication process embodies Chicago’s strong community ties with individual bronze fragments joined to create a cohesive whole. COHERE will be on display at the Cubs Team Store at Gallagher Way (7.26 – 8.4) prior to moving to its permanent home second floor of the Cubs Team Store in the ballpark alongside the team’s display of collaborations with artists.

In addition to the permanently installed sculpture, De Guzman has created a collection of limited-edition product headlined by the COHERE resin sculpture (7.5 x 8″, $375). The hand-painted resin features the team’s blue and red in non-reflective finishes, a contrasting complement to the original sculpture. The COHERE collection also features a short-sleeve pocket T-shirt and a pullover hoodie — both with De Guzman’s artistic take on the Cub’s ‘C’ logo.

The COHERE collection including the limited-edition resin sculpture will be available on Tuesday (7.26) at 7 AM PDT/9AM CDT directly from the Chicago Cubs’ Online Team Store.
