Dehara is back in Los Angeles for the Saturday opening of his Satoshi Yamamoto – 48 Years Old solo show at Giant Robot 2. Clinging to the fading time until the big 5-0, Dehara’s signature salaryman is letting it all hang loose, perhaps even more than usual. The newest iteration of the artist’s nearly annual show with GR features wild and eclectic one-off versions of Dehara’s Satoshi and other sofubi art toys. Going by past shows, expect a few production editions as well.
Dehara will also continue his toy workshop tradition with his Satoshi Keychain workshops taking place on Sunday (6.19, 1 PM & 3 PM) at Giant Robot 2. If you’ve always wanted to customize your very own Dehara sofubi, this is the perfect opportunity. Signups are live on Giant Robot’s site for the 1 PM and 3 PM time slots — $30 per person.
Giant Robot will kick off Dehara’s new solo with a IG Live tour on Saturday (6.19) at 12 PM PDT. Following the live stream, the artwork will be available for online purchase from 1 to 4 PM. If you’re in the area, don’t miss the opening reception (6-9 PM) with Dehara in attendance.
