The Visible Invisible Man by Erik Fountain x Unbox Industries

Previous Next

Sometimes (often?) mad science doesn’t go quite the way its planned. Take the case of the The Visibile Invisible Man, the apparent result of a scientist trying his not quite successful invisibility formula straight from the beaker (accessory). Or perhaps just a clever take on invisible foks:)

Created by Erik Fountain, the lighthearted sci-fi horror art toy from Unbox Industries, the figure features an eye-popping design (literally) featuring translucent blue ‘invisible’ areas and very visible, visceral, exposed sections of brain, skeleton and guts. Fountain is an artist/animator who has worked on Gravity Falls, Adventure Time and Battle Kitty. The figure is the first design in Unbox’s new Little Horrors artist series.

The unusual mix of translucency and paint is a big draw. It’s hard to know how much of the effect is tight painting on top of the translucent vinyl and how much (if any) involves separately cast parts. At any rate, a truly fun design with excellent execution.

The The Visible Invisible Man soft vinyl art toy (9″) will be available for pre-order on Saturday (5.21) at 8 AM PDT from Unbox Industries for $95. A limited quantity will also be available from the Creature Bazaar tables (237 & 238) at Monsterpalooza in Pasadena.
