Japanese artist Yosuke Ueno’s upcoming Hapico: The Wonderful World vinyl art toy mini series from Pop Mart features his signature rainbow-haired girl character and her friends. Ueno’s first blindbox series expands the reach of his art toys while marking the toy debut of several of his characters.
Full of life, Hapico and several of her companions carry the artist’s signature rainbow hair, a vivid representation of DNA’s four base pairs. Hapico is joined by Jupita (her apparent boy counterpart), Bongo (a chubby blue creature with one blue and one red eye), Lily the Kit, Iggy the Kit, Star Hunter, the kaiju-like Hapigon and more. Of the standard figures, Home & Sleepy House stands out with its two-figure design featuring Hapico with a cardboard box package marked ‘Home’ and an elegant, mystical Sleepy House with a single eye. The other two-figure design is the Dice Dog Dream chase featuring a glittering gold Hapico butterfly and her curious Dice Dog pet.
The Hapico: The Wonderful World blindbox series will be available on Friday (5.13) from Pop Mart Global and select retailers including myplasticheart and many others. Cases of twelve blindboxes will include either a full set or eleven different figures and the chase (1:144).
