‘Rescue Me’ by Nicolas Barrome Forgues

Previous Next

French artist Nicolas Barrome Forgues‘ ongoing Rescue Me solo at Mothership Gallery marks a new chapter in his work as he brings his surreal illustrations to life with a series of engaging sculptures. As hinted by the title, the show explores toxic relationships between people and the world.

The striking collection features eleven sculptures (editions of 3), nine of which are hand-painted by the artist in full color. Food is front and center here, with relationships ranging from a maniacal egg riding an unwilling stirp of bacon to a radish comforting a wilting carrot. In translating his 2D art into three dimensions, Barrome Forgues collaborated with the talented Emergency Toys to digitally sculpt and prototype each sculpture. Check out all of the sculptures and art prints on the official show page.

The artist has also created his first art toys to offer larger editions of his Tartine and Party Pal sculptures as smaller resin art toys. Editions of 25, the figures were created in collaboration with Martian Toys and Rlux Customs. The Tartine – Avocado Toast (6″, $150) and Party Pal – Classic Edition (5.5″, $150) are available for preorder now from Martian Toys.
