Illinois-based Ryan Travis Christian’s Birder, The Mayor & Sherm three-figure vinyl/mixed media art toy sculpture set from AllRightReserved is drawn from his grayscale paintings of personable animal characters. The bird, dog, and snake trio showcase Christian’s aesthetic inspired by vintage ‘rubber hose’ animation. Design wise, Sherm the snake is intriguing both in terms of apparently being able to stand on its own despite its thin body and also its fun interactions with Birder the crow. This set is the artist’s first is the first purely sculptural release with AllRightsReserved and follows several functional pieces including a table and a lamp featuring his bird character.
