With his What’s Eating You? multimedia sculpture, HK-based Mr. Giraffe (Kafka Poon) express the overwhelming burden many of us feel, especially given the added stress brought on by the Pandemic. The visceral piece features the Mr. Giraffe character brought to his knees by a large pile of round, translucent characters —his problems or stress. The sculpture was featured in the artist’s recent solo exhibition of the same name held at Stream’s art space and is also being released by the brand.
A mix of wood and resin, What’s Eating You? is available in three editions. Each edition features different colors for Mr. Giraffe and his pile of problem bubbles with a circular wood base. The OG edition pairs the classic yellow Mr. Giraffe with blue problems while the Mono Version features a white giraffe with purple problems and the White Version features an off-white giraffe with a stack of light pink stress.
Numbered editions of 60, The Mr. Giraffe What’s Eating You? resin and wood sculptures (15.75″) are available for preorder from Streams for $240 each. Each sculpture includes a numbered certificate of authenticity. The figures are expected to ship in Q3 2002 subject to pandemic-related delays.
