The Ouch! polystone art toy by Beijing-based painter Alice Lin x Alley Art is drawn from the artist’s playful original art. The intriguing cosplay-themed piece features a blue costumed bear-like character with jagged teeth holding an orange bunny head. With one hand inserted between its own teeth, the title makes perfect, painful sense. Perhaps, two heads are truly better than one. In a fun twist, the heads are swappable thanks to the peg system (see photos in the gallery from iToyz’s recent unboxing video).
The mystery glimpsed with Lin’s curious head-swap piece has in a sense spread to its release. While the illustrated promo images might suggest a toy that had just been completed, Alley Art showed the figure at Shanghai WF 2019. We do know that the figure has just begun distribution through Alley Art’s partners including ZCWO. Perhaps production was delayed due to the pandemic. We’ve include photos of the toy from the artist’s Instagram and the previously mentioned iToyz video to provide a better feel for the fun piece.
