Po Yun Wang has raised his ‘picking’ game to new heights (or lows depending on your perspective) with his latest vinyl art toy from Mighty Jaxx. For the cleverly named The Art of Picking: Mona Lisa vinyl art toy, the artist takes on the one of the world’s most famous paintings by Leonardo da Vinci with a few key changes. Of course, up front (and up her nose), is Mona Lisa’s pinky finger.
Inspired in part by wondering what the subject did to pass the time while sitting for her now iconic portrait, the bust-style piece includes three alternate left hand sculpt — holding a cigarette, making the ‘OK’ gesture and one holding a purple smartphone. As a fun finishing touch, the figure features a humorous Vitruvian Man-inspired tattoo on the back of the neck. Mona Lisa follows Po Yun Wang’s popular Picky Eaters (another great name) series which picked apart famous fast food mascots with nose-picking sculpts and swappable hands.
The The Art of Picking: Mona Lisa vinyl art toy (7″) will be available for pre-order on Saturday (1.29) at 6 AM PST from Mighty Jaxx for $149 (worldwide shipping included). Subject to delays, the figure is slated to ship in June 2022.
