Showa Housekeeping Robot (昭和家政夫ロボット) by Ore Toys

Ore Toys upcoming 昭和家政夫ロボット (Showa Housekeeping Robot) is a fun take on friendly, domesticated robots. The fun, detailed design features a rice cooker for a head and a front-loading washing machine body.

From the photos, the robot’s rice cooker lid is removable and the washing machine door opens. The white Shamoji (rice serving spoon) tucked into the side of the head is a clever touch. This ‘bot is ready to help with your meals and laundry — a perfect combination.

While previous Ore Toys figures had obvious inspirations including Kamen Rider and Doraemon, the housekeeping robot’s inspiration (if any) is less obvious. The concept might be based on the Borotto robot from Marude Dameo which had both a live action show and an anime series. While Borotto had a knack for household chores and an (occasionally) blue body with a cylindrical head, he wasn’t a walking appliance.

The 昭和家政夫ロボット (Showa Housekeeping Robot) is slated for initial release via Taiwan-based Misemono CC. Based on previous releases, expect an online lottery direction from Ore_Toys in the figure.
