As part of the 10th Anniversary release of The Weeknd’s Thursday mixtape—the second in the trilogy— as a standalone album, the star signer/songwriter has collaborated with Kaikai Kiki artist MR. on a capsule collection featuring the Japanese artist’s anime-style aesthetic. The capsule includes a 2 LP album, apparel and an original art toy.
The MR. x The Weeknd Thursday resin art toy—produced by ToyQube in collaboration with XO/Republic/UMe —features MR.’s interpretation of the woman on the new album color as a younger girl in a pink outfit with blue leggings and a teddy bear tucked behind her back. The celebrated painter unfolds the character’s personality through her different color eyes—red and green—as well as her slightly awkward posture with her arms along her side and inward turned feet. The figure includes a removable magnetic base.
An edition of 200, the MR. x The Weeknd Thursday resin art toy (11″) is available for pre-order from The Weeknd’s online store for $590. The figure is scheduled to ship on October 27, 2021.
