The new Maneki-Astro soft vinyl art toy from Chicago-based DoomCo is a fun vision of Tezuka Productions’ legendary Astro Boy character. The hybrid design blends Astro Boy with the traditional maneki-neko (‘Lucky Cat’) figurine seen in homes and businesses throughout Japan and much of the world. Maneki Astro features the hero’s iconic head design, while the inscription on the golden tablet reads ‘10,000 horsepower’. The figure was sculpted in VR by DoomCo Designs founder Kent Fremon and manufactured by Squibbles Ink.
The Maneki-Astro soft vinyl art toy (5.5″) is available for preorder from DoomCo Designs for $60. The figure is expected to ship in September/October 2021. The first 150 toys will include a sticker and ship ahead of later orders.
