Ben the Ghost Cat is the first sofubi figure from Mao, Touma’s daughter. Not aware that he’s died, Ben continues to wander around as if all is the same as it once were, only now as a ghost cast. Designed in the low poly(gon) style, Ben features large, narrow eyes, tiny painted whiskers and articulated arms. While taught and encouraged by her father, Mao designed Ben on her own, created the original model and also designed the color schemes for the production figures. This is Mao’s second art toy and follows her David the Dead Rabbit resin which was available at DesignerCon 2019.
Ben The Ghost Cat is available in both Purple and White editions directly from Touma’s web shop for ¥4,180 ($39.67). It also appears that new figures will also be available from the 3DRetro booth at DesignerCon 2020 online — details pending.
