While much of what we call ‘normal’ is upside down, DKE Toys is bringing collectors their annual summer collection of curated art toys via the brand new #DKECON live online (and offline) event in lieu of the cancelled in-person SDCC 2020 convention. While the venue has changed, DKE has gone to great lengths to keep everything else familiar including their physical booth which they’ve constructed in their warehouse. While the emphasis is once again on action figure art toys (‘bootlegs’), there’s plenty of variety on offer including a fun new galactic plush.
Flat Bonnie has released numerous SDCC plush exclusives with DKE and this year’s Chewbactus just might be our favorite of them all. From the cute wookie as a cactus 4″ mini plush to the conceptually cool 10″ hand-sewn vinyl wall art that doubles as a large backing card, this is a quality release through and through. There’s also the clever design that allows the figure to be safely removed. In addition to plush figures, Flat Bonnie has been making sewn wall art for years, so the idea of combining both is pretty great.
A signed/numbered edition of 5, the Chewbactus plush set will be available from #DKECON for $200 beginning on Wednesday at 5 PM via the DKE Toys online store.
Be sure to watch the #DKECON Zoom Live Stream for a booth tour, artist interviews and more from 5 to 9 PM PDT on Wednesday and 9 AM – 7 PM PDT Thursday – Sunday (7.23 – 7.26). Bridging the real and the virtual worlds, #DKECON will also be available in person at DKE’s Pacoima (CA) location for walk-in business, one customer at a time starting on Thursday at 10 AM PDT. In-person shopping is subject to local government regulations. Finally, qualifying #DKECON online and offline purchases will include a bonus, free silk-screen Sucakedlic Tote Bag (1000 pieces) in pink of course.
