Next up for Andy Chen is his new Donut Dragon – Colorful Day soft vinyl art toy. Known for his clever blend of Chinese culture and delicious deserts, Chen has created a sweet treat inspired by fusing the traditional, circular representation of a dragon with the fried Western wonder. Beyond the insightful inspiration, the Donut Dragon’s draw lies in the decadent way the dragon melts into the donut, its tail a wave of glistening glaze flowing across the matte donut.
The Donut Dragon – Colorful Day vinyl toy—the follow-up to last Fall’s debut edition—will be released on Wednesday (5.20) China Time for ¥380 ($54) as part of XCL Toy’s online toy show taking place on Taobao. XCL Toys is the online shop from the owners of the Sofubi Shanghai Festival and First Meet Gallery. Unfortunately this release is China only.
