As part of the Shin Kaiyodo Evangelion Figure Exhibition at Kaiyodo Hobby Museum Shimanto, Dehara has created special low-run figures of three Evangelion characters: EVA-01, Rei Ayanami, and Shinji Ikari.
Sculpted by Dehara, each design features his immediately recognizable organic style.
As artist editions, these hit the sweet spot with designs created in the artist’s signature style while retaining the character’s visual DNA. Editions of five each, these are undoubtedly some of the rarest officially-licensed Evangelion figures ever released.
Due to the coronavirus, the planned sale at the exhibition has become an online lottery with three of each figure available: EVA-01 (¥45,000/$421), Reni Ayanami (¥30,000/$281) and Shinji Ikari (¥30,000/$281). The lottery is open only to those living in Japan or with a Japanese mailing address. If you don’t live in Japan, you should be able to use one of the specialized shipping forwardint services that cater to overseas collectors. The lottery closes on Tuesday (5.5) at 8 AM PDT.
