Mr. Clement’s A Vulgar Statement—released last December in collaboration with Tomenosuke—brought us his popular Lapin in a way never seen before. Perhaps the character’s reaction at being stereotyped as ‘cute’, the figure certainly expanded the range of expression in art toys and did so with a definite wink.
With the upcoming Chapter 2 edition, Mr. Clement adds a flamboyant flair to A Vulgar Statement with a touch of red from the rhinestone eyes to the scarf and the the feet. If you look closely, you can see that the base sofubi vinyl here is clear red with the rest of the lapin’s body done in spray. Chapter 2 will be available in three editions: white, gray and black. While the White and Gray will be available individually, the Black will be offered only as part of the 3-figure set.
The A Vulgar Statement: Chapter 2 vinyl art toys will be available for pre-order on Monday (6.1) at 7:59 AM PDT exclusively from Tomenosuke with the White and Gray editions available for ¥14,300 ($329) each and the 3-figure set (W/G/B) available for ¥39,600 ($367). Chapter 2 is slated to ship in September 2020.
