Next up from HK-based artist Pucky x Pop Mart comes the Pucky Horoscope Babies mini series. The designs bring fun, cute interpretations of the zodiac signs, often incorporating a secondary winged/angel motif. Starting with the traditional meanings, Pucky has added fun/whimsical touches throughout including teeny tiny Pucky Babies seen on both the Libra and Gemini Baby figures. As with nearly all Pop Mart mini series, Horoscope Babies features 12 standard designs, one for each sign, and a 13th chase. In this case the chase is the clever Galileo Baby, seen gazing up at the constellations.
This is the rare series where the preview images are a bit lacking as many of the design concepts only become clear when viewed from the side/back such as the Scorpio Baby with its elaborate scorpion tail or the Cancer Baby with an adorable crab backpack. Worth a view, especially for Pucky collectors.
Pop Mart will release the Pucky Horoscope Babies on May 1st, 2020 in China with availability to follow worldwide. The series is available for pre-order from multiple retailers including myplasticheart and Strangecat Toys for $10.99/blindbox. As is usually the case with Pop Mart series, a display case of 12 blind boxes features a full standard set unless one is replaced with the elusive chase—no duplicates.
