The intriguing Hand of Sight vinyl art toy is the first collaboration between Brazilian illustrator Pedro Correa and Mighty Jaxx. The mystical piece features a blue hand with an open eye—a common element In the artist’s work—gazing out from the palm. In an unusual treatment for a vinyl toy, the figure includes a removable, diorama-backdrop/base representing the terrestrial world. The abstract rays of color at the top of the backdrop are positioned such that they seem to emanate out of the fingers which represent five elements: fire, air, ethereal, earth and water. The backdrop/base is interesting as it transforms Hand of Sight from an isolated visual into a complete vision, almost as if it was a 3D illustration or painting. That it’s removable is a nice touch.
An edition of 300, the Hand of Sight art toy (10″) will be available for pre-order on Saturday (4.18) at 6 AM PDT from Mighty Jaxx for $189 (shipping included). It’s slated to ship in September 2020.
