First shown at Beijing Toy Show 2019, the Toothy resin art toy (8.66″) by PDC (Pop Mart Design Center) x Pop Mart is set for a very limited release. The Chinese-style dragon caught our eye at BTS in part for the intricate styling, glossy finish and details. However, the design’s real draw is the tail which curves around Toothy’s body with a translucent butterfly friend perched on top. Rather than simply an appendage, Toothy’s tail is an extension of the dragon’s personality and kindness and in a sense, of its humanity.
Toothy will be available in two similar editions: Blue with purple butterfly Yellow with yellow butterfly. Except for the different color butterflies, both editions are very similar as the blue is limited to the top of the head with the rest of the dragon’s design matching the Yellow edition.
Speaking of limited, the bittersweet news is that each edition is quite limited with only 100 pieces of each being available in China on April 1st for ¥999 ($141). A small quantity will also be available via Pop Mart’s retail partners in Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong. No word yet on release plans for other markets.
