Timberrr! is Venezuela-based Gorgocho’s contribution to the upcoming Exquisite Corpse Dunny Series from Kidrobot. Featuring a saddened, mother owl coping with the destruction of the tree her family calls home, the new Dunny reminds us to the environments costs of our constant need for more & more, bigger, better and the best.
The design juxtaposes the artist’s stylized, abstract owl with the more direct tree stump concept featuring a baby bird in distress and a tree-ring style pattern. Timberrr! is the first previewed design that directly incorporates the series’ mix-and-match Dunny concept with the partial saw cut sitting right at the separation between the new modular Dunny’s torso and legs which are magnetically attached for easy swapping.
The Exquisite Corpse Dunny series will be released on Friday, February 7th 2020 at 8 AM PST from Kidrobot’s online store and select retailers. Curated by Red Mutucua Studios and CoART Magazine, the series features death-themed designs from the studios’ twelve artists. The series is named after the creative challenge enjoyed Frida Kahlo and other Surrealist painters enjoyed, which involved taking turns creating a portrait on a folded sheet of paper so that each artist had to create a section (head, torso, etc) without the benefit of seeing the others’ work.
