Unreal. The title of artist and model Lauren Tsai’s new surreal art toy / sculpture is an apt description. Produced by Medicom Toy x 3DRetro, the large polystone resin figure features a mystical beast with a flowing, ethereal mane, apparently bearing timeless souls. A little girl sits atop, clutching the creature, a seeming source of reassurance and comfort.
First previewed in prototype form at DesignerCon 2018, Unreal (Edition of 200 pieces / $595) will be released at this year’s DesignerCon on Sunday (11.24). Unreal is bound to be one of the premier releases of the show and of 2019 itself.
