Futura will open Generation Z at The Mass gallery in Harajuku, Japan on Saturday, November 16th 2019. Coming nearly two decades after the artist’s Command Z show at Nowhere in Tokyo, the new exhibition features 27 commissioned works on canvas created during a residency in Japan as well as four different types of sculptures.
Since the initial exhibition announcement, several sculptural editions have been announced and/or previewed. The brand-new FL-003 ’39Meg’ sculpture is crafted in Japanese bronze Kurotani (30 cm/11.8″) with a total edition of 50 split across Black and White versions. This sculptural edition is exclusive to the exhibition and the gallery.
In addition, a large-format FL-001(1.76 m/69″) will be released for the exhibition. Futura Laboratories has also posted a photo with a matching-finish, chromed FL-003.
In celebration of the exhibition, Futura has also collaborated with Japanese brand Neighborhood on an FL-001 Incense Burner in ceramic (315 mm/12.4″). An edition of 100, these will be released on 11.16 at the brand’s flagship location and their web shop.
