Having grown up in a tourist town—presumably a beach city given his art—Pelletier’s art explores the American vacation with a curious rather than critical gaze.
Robo Hammerhead is a glorious mashup, blending horror, sci-fi, rock ‘n roll and countless aquatic themes/memes. This quadruple-take of an art toy is a strong translation of the artist’s mix+match palette and retro-tinged imagery. It’s also the kind of crazy, ‘what is that’ kind of piece that drew me into collecting art toys.
