‘The Blank’ – A Brand-New Platform by Huck Gee

unnamed

As part of Huck Gee’s new direction focusing on creating original toys in resin in the USA, he’s been working on a new resin platform called simply ‘The Blank’ (7-8”).  For an in-depth read of the idea behind the new platform, be sure to check out the interview in Clutter #27 (buy it via Clutter/free from a local store/view it free online). Having created scores of custom Munnys and Dunnys, Huck’s had plenty of time to think about his dream platform. The Blank features longer, more ‘normal’ proportions with a head that looks straight ahead rather than down. While Huck will continue to develop the blank with variations and improvements, look for the first two versions – the Skullhead and Monkey shapes to drop this Summer.  We’re looking forward to seeing the amazing pieces artists will create with this new platform.

Having  parted ways with Kidrobot, in large part because he could no longer trust the brand,  Huck has up until now not had a platform for customization. The Blank changes all that. With his own platform, Huck is back in the custom biz.  He’ll be fleshing out his Dapper Little Scoundrels world with retro style mechs.  First up?   Diesel Armored Mobile Emplacement #11 & #13 (DAMEs) as seen on the Clutter cover.

We’re pretty excited about Huck’s new endeavor.  While we’re always happy to see his new original creations, ‘The Blank’ offers a new opportunity for the industry.  Platforms are the essential designer toy staples.  It’s about time there’s a new, exciting choice.
