Reactor-88’s Custom Corner: Frank Montano

feastVP4

Welcome to the February edition of Reactor-88’s Custom Corner. This month we’re highlighting Frank Montano.

What’s your name?

My name is Frank Montano aka Feast. I’m 24 years-old.

Where are you located?

I was raised in the Bay Area, now currently located in Seattle.

Day job or full-time artist?

I am a part time artist and a full time father.

How long have you been painting toys?

I’ve been customizing vinyl figures for about three years. The first vinyl figure I was introduced to was a Munny which I sculpted into ironman and was instantly hooked—the rest was history. Most of the customs I make are now focused on my characters I’ve developed, The BlizzardBeast and DiamondTrooper. “A yeti who has fought for many years to protect its species, land, and riches from the evil spirited DiamondTroopers, who carry the skull of the BlizzardBeast over their heads as protection. A war of good versus evil.” haha, well that’s the story so far..

Anything specific you’d like people to know about your toy work (style, influences, special techniques, etc.)?

As i make my way into the art community, my style has evolved into something that I am proud of. Work that influences me would have to be anything with clean line work and a bold color palette. It’s something I’ve always enjoyed in the animation and graffiti world. Its nice to be able to present it in my work. All of my artwork is done with acrylic paint and a brush, one day I’ll be able to work digitally with my story line. @Dopevinyl is working on a vinyl figure documentary focusing on artists and the art of designer toys as well as customs. It’s planned to drop this year at New York City Comic-Con 2015. I’ll have a cool little section discussing more of my work. Be sure to check it out and spread the word!

Do you take commissions?

I am always looking for new projects to implement my design onto something where that’s a canvas, pair of headphones, wood panel, vinyl figure or wall. I am open for commissions this late March!
