Michael Lau, widely considered to have started the Urban Vinyl movement with his legendary 12” Gardener figures, has long wanted to find a way to create affordable versions of his signature figures –- so that a large number of collectors could actually contemplate owning each and  Gardener.  His new Garden(palm)er series produced in conjunction with How2work is the answer – 1/12 scale (6”) articulated versions (16 joints)  of their larger brothers.

The ambitiously awesome series will feature 130 figures in all, 10 per season for 13 seasons across four years.  Season 1 launches in Mid-November with 10 debut figures — 011 Tatto, 015 BB in Wakeboard, 037 Young Maxx, 053 Tip Top, 064 Lazy Billy, 065 Lazy Michael, 087 Micro, 089 Box B,  095 Four Guilty Gardener 430 and a 10th chase featuring parts from the season’s nine regular figures.   Each of the Garden(palm)er figures will come in a graffiti spray can shaped package and retail for a very affordable HK$399 each (~$51).  As you can see in the photo(s) above and after the jump, these new smaller scale figures retain the attention to detail collectors expect including realistic apparel and accessories (skateboards and such).

If you’re a long-time Michael Lau collector or someone who would like to start collecting his celebrated toys, Garden(palmer) is a great opportunity.  In the USA, Toyqube will be distributing and selling the Garden(palm)er – be sure to check out their blog post for close-up shots of each of the Season 1 figures.
