Following up on his original 3” Siamese Cherry resins released in August, Lou Pimentel has created a new ‘flavor of the month, a hand-painted ‘Black Cherry’ edition limited to just a dozen pieces. The 3” Black Cherry will be released on Black Friday (11.25) @ Noon EST over on Lou’s web store for $65 (+ s/h: $7 domestic, $10 international). In addition, the red Siamese Cherry is also available as an open, on-demand edition for $50 with the same shipping charges.
In addition to sending us these nice outdoor shots of the Black Cherry resins, Lou also shared some background the Siamese Cherry project. The character concept was inspired by his baby daughter’s persistent desire to follow her father’s every move. Begun as a study for a painting, Lou decided to go ahead and produce the piece based on several requests from collectors. While the original intent was to cast the pieces himself, he later worked with Chris Raab who created a 3D model of the piece, had it printed, and then went on to cast them in resin. Lou hand-paints each unpainted resin with his trusty oil paints.
This approach provides the best of both worlds – Lou’s creativity and hand-painted art combined with a high level of technical execution on the production side. If you’re looking for a holiday gift for a friend or loved one, the new Black Cherry resin would be a great choice.
