Crossover alert. Toy2R has collaborated with fashion brand Jimmy Black on its new line of American Adventure shoes featuring a military theme with three different shades of camouflage patterns, Toyer logo on the heel, and an included ‘matching’ exclusive 2.5” Qee decked out in camo with night vision gear. The Shoes + Qee sets are available at MiXTRA in the K11 Mall in Kowloon, Hong Kong. If the name sounds familiar, that’s likely because Michael Lau held a Mr. Shoe Exhibition at the large store back in 2010.
The shoes don’t really stand out here for us, so we’ll focus on the Qee. It’s interesting, nicely printed but seems like an odd mix of military concepts from the slung ammo to what appears to be pilot’s head gear – helmet and night vision goggles. It would have been nice to see matching camo for each Qee. Instead only the ‘face’ color matches the shoe color scheme. Finally the name of the series ‘American Adventure’ coupled with the military theme really drives home a sobering image of how we may be perceived abroad.
