Make Sergey Safonov’s Luno a Reality with Kickstarter

Russian artist Sergey Safonov has a knack for creating appealing art toys including Gooma and he Moon Wanderers.  Despite his string of strong figures, his ‘Luno the Moonrover’ may just be his best work yet.  The name and concept pays homage to the former Soviet Union’s Lunokhod 1 moon rover.  When the first proto was shown, I immediately took a look and then another – it’s cute yes, but more importantly it’s got personality which conveys a sense of adventure and exploration.

So when is Luno going to be made?  That’s up to you.  Sergey had teamed with Jeremyriad to create a Kickstarter project for the figure.  The goal is to raise the funds to have 50  3-wheeled resin figures created by Crazy Label ($4k).  The deadline for fundraising is Tuesday, April 12th.  As you might expect, there are some cool incentives for backers including a mini Luno (3” – $35+) and of course, the regular Luno (5” – $80).  Here’s hoping Luno lifts off.
