Hmm… maybe that title should read… “Tequila getting his rear handed to him by Sartana (played by Jessica Alba) in the recently released Robert Rodriguez film, Machete”.
The cameo is made all the sweeter by the fact that Tequila appears not in toy form but as a brawlin’ 3D modeled character in a fictitious wii meets punch out meets Lucha Libre game. As you can see in the exclusive frame cap above, Troublemaker Studios went all out with the inclusion of lots of spicy details including the use of cacti instead of stars for Tequila’s dizzy animation.
The process which led to this cool cameo sequence started humbly enough with a studio shot in the Grindhouse art book from Troublemaker studios showing Rod Brunet at a desk with numerous items including an Extra Spicy Tequila. Down the line, Jerry and Robert from Muttpop met writer/editor/filmmaker Aaron Burns formerly of Troublemaker Studios who set things up when Rod wanted to feature Tequila in the movie.
