The Master of Pink will be back in the Big Apple for what is quickly becoming a rite of spring for him – a new show at Giant Robot New York. Adventures in Lollipopland (flier) opening on Saturday, April 17th (6:30 – 10 PM) features a melding of the two halves of Buff Monster’s psyche – the sweet and tantalizing cheerful ice cream and cherry side as well as the darker heavy metal inspired bits. The show features three 16” x 16” paintings, several smaller 7” x 7” pieces, a group of toy customs and by popular request – thirty 10” x 10” wood panels (people just can’t get enough of these).
This time around Buff Monster has split his customizing efforts nearly fifty-fifty between Kaiju and Western toys with some surprises including a Sqwert and a Treeson. Of the three larger paintings, we’re really enjoying untitled #2 (above) with a ‘face’ comprised of more abstract elements. The piece neatly encompasses Buff Monster’s artistic universe into one cohesive piece.
