Close-up: Brandt Peters’ Carnies

Kidrobot will release Brandt Peters’ Carnies mini-figs today, Thursday March 4th 2010.  To coincide with the drop, we’re brining you a close-up look at all thirteen figures from Brandt’s monotone retro ‘toon world.

Befitting the name the Carnies are a motley lot – they’re experienced, a little worse for wear, and in many cases mutated.  What comes across really quickly with this series is the strong character development – the quirky personalities spring from the visual detail packed into these small figures.  A bit about scale, these are smaller than your typical designer toy minis, however the payoff is in the intricate detail from the electric blue veins in Doc Tonic’s wings to the over-the-top three-piece action of Thinman & Buster.  There’s something rewarding about opening a blind-box to find three pieces and then painlessly putting them together.  T&B’s wagon + Pork-Chop’s are well-done featuring free spinning wheels and plastic rope tethers.

Before we close this out, you might be wondering about the two listed chase/mystery figures.  One is the militaristic officer figure (complete with mini-pipe accessory) and the other is a white version of the three-headed Weird Bros.

The Carnies blind-boxes are available for $9.95 each from Kidrobot and select retailers.  Hit the jump for plenty o’pics.
