Tosa Novmichi Signing @ Giant Robot 2 (2.20)

Japanese musician/designer  Tosa Novmichi will be at Giant Robot 2 this Saturday, February 20th (5-7 PM) to demonstrate his playful Otomatone electronic instrument which sounds like a Theremin.   Tosa is one half of Maywa Denki the folks who created the oh-so-cool Knockman musical designer art toys from awhile back.  If you’re thinking Otoma-wha ?  Check out the video below to see Tosa demoing his newest creation.  It’s in Japanese, but is easy enough to follow.

It looks like a great idea and even sort of works like a theremin, but I must say that it sounds nothing like most theremins I've heard. This sounds much, much more like a 'normal' synthesizer.

But still, great idea!
