Polyghost, a new iPhone app developed by Last Legion Games, aims to bring the fun of vinyl toys to the iPhone. The app allows you to purchase virtual versions of popular toys from Tim Biskup, Friends with You, and Devilrobots. You can then create pictures with your newly purchased digital toy replicas – choose the background, the lighting, and perhaps most interestingly the pose. Check out some of Polyghost’s sample images after the jump. Once you get it to your liking, you can send your creation through the social web – twitter, facebook, and more. According to Boing Boing, the app costs $3.99 and comes with Biskup’s Helper character. Additional ‘toys’ will set you back anywhere from .99 to $9.99. It’s available now in the iTunes App store.
The concept seems like it could be fun, but I can’t help but think we could just take pics of real toys – though this does make it super simple, without any Photoshop gymnastics. Check it out below in the official preview video – the music is a little painful, but it does give you an idea of what it’s all about.
