It’s on. MINDstyle and Michael Lau have just unveiled the four exclusive wood grain figures dropping at the Gardener 10th show (9.29 – 10.3) at De La Barracuda in Los Angeles. Each figure is limited to 100 pieces and will be available for $125. One figure will be released per night starting on the 29th with the MINDstyle LA Fat figure which will then be followed by the SlamxHype (‘S’) release, the Hundreds release, and the De La Barracuda release. The small edition sizes of these figures will only amplify the unquestioned demand for these milestone release. Of the four, the LA Fat may be the hardest to acquire since it’s dropping at the invite only first night (9.29). The full event/release schedule is after the jump.
A few things to note about these releases. While three of the figures have completely new heads, they appear to be based on Gardener figures. For example, the Hundreds figure has the Fat West body. Also, each figure is rocking the same kicks. Odds are good that the show exclusive Nike shoes (10.3) will be similar to the ones on the figures. Finally, it looks like Michael is continuing the traditions he established with his 2006 Gardener Meets Nike exhibition with the starring role of NY Fat (LA Fat), the woodgrain theme (lighter this time), and the use of the exclusive shoe on the exclusive figures. Michael’s focused attention to his brand and consistent imaging are part of the cornerstones of his success. The similarities between the ‘06 release and the upcoming 10th products tie things nicely together and demonstrate a tradition of excellence. Finally, we’re trying not to drool over the Barracuda release.
