Seen: Artshocker Show Tokyo (3.12 – 3.15)

16-043

[Artshocker Show Tokyo (flier) went down last weekend featuring an exhibit of custom artist versions of the new Jamipoo figure  from Universal Pooyan. Beyond the debut of Jamipoo, the company also offered a fabric/plush Hedora.   In addition to Universal Pooyan, several well-known toy artists offered their figures and one-offs for sale.  Of course, Luke Rook was there and sent back his report and a nice photo gallery].

This weekend’s Art Shocker came and went, but what an amazing wake it left in it’s path. Toy maker/designer/geeked out toy nerds,

Universal Pooyan  released Jamipoo. This not so little Mecha B-Boy was redone by a who’s-who of the toy world. Artist’s from both sides even. Tons of cool customs, but what really jumped out at me was the bold and bright Jamipoo. He kind of reminded me a little of Maschinen Kriger and he should, they’ve worked with Mr. Yokoyama in the past. Look for more kitchy versions of Jamipoo in the near future.
