We’re excited about the Transcenders (flier) group show which opens next Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 (7-10 PM) @ Gallery 1988 Los Angeles. The show features work from five bold artists including Jason D’Aquino, Doktor A, Scott Scheidly, Jason Limon and Michael Page.
While all of the artists create great work, we’re stoked to bring you a preview of Doktor A’s wildly imaginative “Blavatski & Sons’ The Automatic Medium : Seance Engine“. This artifact from an alternate and highly advanced Victorian-era society combines the supernatural with robotics to offer a link to the after life. Longtime readers or hard-core collectors will recognize Blavastki and Sons as the prolific purveyors of amazing machines including the previously discovered Blavatski & Son’s Automated Kismet Disseminator.
As with his previous sculptures, this piece captures our imagination through its form, execution, and its purported fantastic function. His collection of mechanical wonders weave a story of a world we’d like to visit.
