Dylan Sisson – Idle Hands

Dylan Sisson’s art blurs the line between creepy and cute.  His first original toy, Idle Hands, is a demon drawn from his paintings. We first saw the figure this summer at SDCC, and we’re happy to say it’s slated for a December release.

The challenge in translating Dylan’s work to 3D is recreating the subtle shading that lends a sophistication to his paintings.  As shown above, Toy Tokyo has done a good job with what appears to be some sort of spray fade technique.  The sculpt is nicely detailed and exploits the potentials of 3D well with sculpted teeth, multi-level eyes, and ridge detail on the horns and hoofs. At 10” tall, its an impressive piece.

The standard orange colorway limited to 500  300 pieces and the Monochrome edition (100 pieces) will drop this December. The exclusive pink edition will follow at a later date (100 pieces).   Look for a pre-order on Toy Tokyo’s online store shortly.   Some exploration of Dylan’s blog uncovered an early look at the three colorways (we believe these shots are of hand-painted samples).  Click through for more pics.
