Best known for his Carnival Cartoons vinyl figures, Jared Deal is working with sculptor Eric Noella’s Argonaut Resins on a spooky treat for All Hallow’s Eve. From the teaser post we’re assuming it’s a limited-edition resin bat (vampire?) that balances scary + cute. Cool to see more and more artists exploring limited-edition resin produced by specialty houses.
In many ways resin is ideal for low-runs (At least with silicon molds) which meshes nicely with the desire to produce extremely collectible pieces. A total run of 25 or 50 vinyl figures is almost unthinkable — with this new approach to resin it’s fairly standard. We’re not sure resin is quite the new vinyl (paint application considerations as well as per piece costs) but it’s certainly exciting.
