Aaron Thomas – Diabolus Mundus

We all experience countless trivial yet in the moment terribly frustrating little mishaps such as losing keys, spilling milk, and tripping on seemingly nothing.  Did you ever have the feeling that a gang of hidden cunning and mischievous creatures is the root source of your daily annoyances ?

DC Shoes designer Aaron Thomas has and he’s found the culprits – devils.  His Diabolus Mundus solo opening @ Subtext on Friday September 5th (6-10 PM) in SD exposes these previously unseen trouble-makers. This latest body of work grew out of a project done for Rob Clayton’s media experimentation class prior to graduating from the Art Center College of Design.

While devils are about as novel as the sky that we live under, Aaron’s devils have a shall we say incredibly seductive allure.  The ‘look’ is pure sweetness.  We first saw his work as email thumbnails and immediately thought the orange devil was sculpture.  This work is begging to come to life in vinyl.  Perhaps we could then use them as talismans to ward off the real little devils or would they  act more as a welcoming beacon <gulp>?

Either way, if you find yourself down SD way do yourself a favor and check out the opening of Aaron Thomas’s Diabolus Mundus @ Subtext on Friday September 5th (6-10) PM.  After the jump, more devilish mischief.
