Urabbit’s Urban Jungle

A division of BuBu, Urabbit became a new player in designer vinyl with the launch for their Urban Jungle label at Halo in Central, HK on 12.20.07.  The HK company introduced their first three new figures, all from HK artists — Danny Chan’s Spooky Porcupine, Husky Kevin’s Icy Bunny and Winson Ma’s Jungle Artdol.  Three large one-off versions of each new figure served as the centerpiece of the evening.

Icy Bunny is Husky Kevin’s newest figure and a departure from his signature Husky figures.  While not many people in the States are familiar with the Husky line featuring a blue-eyed Husky dog it’s quite popular in Asia and has been going for quite awhile.  Back to the future… Icy Bunny fuses  a retro style soft-serve ice cream cone with an oh-so cute Bunny, complete with Bunny Slippers (!?!?).  From the pics on Kevin’s blog it looks like there are at least two versions — one with the ice cream swirl  and one with a heart.

You might be thinking Danny Chan’s Spooky Porcupine — isn’t that a Play Imaginative figure?  Apparently the answer is there are two different ones with different poses — one from PI and one from Urabbit. Boggle.

Winson Ma’s Jungle Artdol is a big one at 12" and this vinyl version of his 1:6 Jungle Apexplorer is one of the first toys in his new Artdol platform/concept line. Check out more on Jungle in our previous post including details on the auction of the 3′ Fiber Glass one-off.
