It’s here… Dunny madness is alive and well. S4 released yesterday (duh 😉 and with it came trading parties. Down at KR LA people gathered right outside the store on Melrose Ave. to anxiously open their cases. While some opened at a leisurely pace, most tore into cases and boxes quickly and systematically — some even using their teeth to speed the process. Talk of case layouts and such allowed people to open just a few key box positions and then move on to the next case in hunt of the chases – Huck, Shane Jessup and Kozik. The lure of prizes for people opening the first Dunny of a specific design spiced things up in the beginning — with the coolest prize being the life-size Big Money pendant from MAD and Random Nature. We didn’t see too much swapping (‘cept for Bugers – ketchup/mustard) or much less trading Dunnys for other collectibles. This event was really a mass opening of cases — in the company of other crazed collectors 😉
Finally, it definitely appears to be the case that the S4 Dunnys have softer arms than previous 3" Dunnys. While these are not ‘rubber’ (as some are labeling it) — they are definitely much softer. It’s unclear if this is by design or not, though the speculation that the softer arms allow easier accessory placement makes practical sense. Is this ‘New Coke’ all over again ? S5 – Dunny Classic, anyone ? 😉
