Long Gone John – Pictures of the Gone World (2.03.07)

Long Gone John founded both the Sympathy for the Record Industry indie music label and Necessaries Toy Foundation while acquiring an expansive art collection featuring the work of premiere painters including Todd Schorr, Mark Ryden, and many more.  Before he picks up and moves to Washington, his art collection will be on display to the public for the Pictures of the Gone World exhibition at  the Grand Central Art Center which opens tonight (2.3.07) from 7 to 10 PM and runs through March 18th.  The exhibition will mark the first public showing of Todd Schorr’s A Pirate Treasure’s Dream which casts John as a pirate.  Tonight’s opening will feature two screenings of  The Treasure of Long Gone John (6 and 8:30 PM), a film by Greg Gibbs, which showcases Long Gone’s journey, peerless art collection, and this label’s music. In addition, a museum version of "The Gone World" short film by Greg Gibbs featuring a tour of John’s previous residence will screen throughout tonight’s opening.

If you’re still planning out your weekend, tonight’s opening should be high up on your list.  Long Gone John’s art collection including one of the finest Todd Shorr collections anywhere is not to be missed.
