The tokidoki Ningyo figure, the first of the Ningyo Series from Super Rad Toys, dropped at Munky King Melrose this past Wednesday (12.2.06). The Ningyo Project combines the traditional form of the Japanese Gosho doll with contemporary graphics from some of today’s hottest designers. The blue tokidoi Ningyo looks great featuring a range of Simone’s art from his adorable characters to more serene renderings of asian animals — tigers and koi. The pad printing is really quite nice with good crisp results.
A massive energetic crowd follows Simone to each and every event and
this was definitely the case for the launch. The line for signing
stretched to the very rear of the store — probably the longest line
we’ve seen so far. Simone signed whatever fans placed on the table
including Ningyo, Mozarella, his new 8" Qee, and more tokidoki
LeSportsac handbags than I could count. Props to Simone and MK for a smooth release party. Ningyo is off to a strong start — we’re looking forward to the next releases. Be sure to click through to see more release party pics.
